Toddlers
18 Months to 2.5 Years
Shalom Montessori School understands that from infancy to 3 years of age is a time to explore, touch, hear, establish trust, start the development of language, and take the first steps to independence. During this stage of development, children have that unique ability to absorb knowledge quickly and effortlessly.
Maria Montessori referred to this time in your child’s life as the “absorbent mind.” These children are sensorial explorers because they learn through their senses; this is precisely why all experiences within our classroom are hands-on. The concrete experience of “learning by doing” is essential to your child’s development because it enriches his understanding of new concepts.
Children have a natural passion to be engaged in activities that have meaning and purpose, and we implement those sensorial tools to make this experience possible.
Our institution incorporates a wide range of engaging activities to help make your child’s Torah, and secular learning experience meaningful, educational, and fun while helping to prepare them for the future.
"Our care for the children should be governed not by the desire to make them learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within them the light which is called intelligence."
