Shalom Montessori School

We are a Jewish Montessori school with carefully selected, loving and warm Morahs. Our children spend their days having fun, learning through play, song and their own curiosity, growing a love of Torah and a hunger to discover the big world around them. We have a dual curriculum of Judaic studies and Montessori lessons, and have been serving our community since 2018.

Shalom Montessori children are driven by excitement, enthusiasm, and a true love of learning, making our school a place they run to when they come.

Our Mission

To fascinate, excite and inspire.

To fascinate, excite and inspire with Jewish Montessori, a burning desire to learn Torah, and all the awe inspiring wonders that Hashem has created.

“Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child open himself up to life.”

Our Philosophy

The whole child, at their own pace.

Shalom Montessori School aligns its philosophy with the Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the late 1800s.

Whether secular or Judaic studies, we help our children develop a love of learning through sensorial materials that give the child’s mind an open door to the real world of learning.

Children are naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared environment. Our approach values the human spirit and the development of the whole child — physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual.

“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’”

Our Programs

From first steps to kindergarten.

Shalom Montessori has a program that is right for your child, with ages ranging from 3 months to 6 years and flexible drop-off and pick-up times.

3 months – 18 months

Infant Room

A rich, stimulating and nurturing environment that encourages imagination, promotes creativity, and enhances development. Our infants learn to walk, talk, build memory and critical thinking skills, and understand the world around them through exploration and socialization.

Loving, nurturing teachers rigorously trained in child development create peaceful, supportive, and safe spaces where a child’s natural wonder and curiosity come alive.

Toddler Level

From infancy to age three is a time to explore, touch, hear, establish trust, begin language, and take the first steps to independence. Maria Montessori called this the “absorbent mind.”

Toddlers are sensorial explorers, so every experience in our classroom is hands-on — “learning by doing” — making Torah and secular learning meaningful, educational, and fun.

2.5 – 6 years

Primary Level

The foundation of the Montessori method. Children choose their own activities under the guidance of trained Montessori teachers, using materials that cultivate concentration, independence and a love of learning.

Practical life skills — pouring, spooning, washing, scrubbing — sit beside Math, Language, Music, Geography, Science, Botany, Zoology, Art and Culture, with a healthy emphasis on empathy, respect, communication, and the love of Torah.

Our Directors

Morah Roxana

Director of Montessori Curriculum

Morah Roxana began her Montessori career in 2001 teaching preschool, and went on to earn both Infant–Toddler and Early Childhood Montessori degrees at SFMEC.

She started a Montessori school and became the curriculum dean of a Miami Beach Montessori school. In 2017 she traveled to Israel to train teachers and set up a thriving Montessori school in Jerusalem. Those experiences inspired her to open her own school — and that is how Shalom Montessori School was born.

“I know that in the right environment, all children can thrive intellectually, socially, and emotionally… I’m passionate to help your child develop a love for secular and Jewish learning.”

R. Israel Maya

R. Israel Maya works behind the scenes to keep Shalom Montessori running smoothly. He supports our Morahs, partners with parents, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the school, so our teachers can focus on what they do best: caring for and teaching the children.

“Our highest priority is the children; they come first. Their safety, security, ability to learn, and well-being are our most important focus.”
